Boston Wins…Help Us
This must be what Hell is like. This one single year could be the worst sports year imaginable. Think about it, the Redsox just won the World Series, the Celtics have a shot at the NBA Championship, and BC Eagles are #2 in the BCS. Please don’t make me start watching hockey!!!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve hated Boston. No real reason, I’ve only been there once (and only for a few hours). Only once has Boston broke my heart, back in 2004 when the Patriots beat the Panthers. The Celtics even gave the Hornets their first playoff series win in 1993. And my favorite beer is Sam Adams. But still, somehow I hate Boston.
I think it has to do with all the complaining about never winning or always coming up short. The pity party that was always the Boston area when they would lose, the expectation that the would lose, and then complain about it afterwards like they didn’t expect it to happen. They were the worst losers in sports!!!
But now, they are winning. Winning everything. And its painful to read about. I have not read one sports article, opened a news website, or even looked at a paper since the 7th inning of last night’s game. I can’t take it. Not only are Boston fans the worst losers in sports, the are also the worst winners.
And now the sports teams are getting into it. Manny says losing wouldn’t be the end of the world, then the Red Sox win the next 7 games. Boston College spots Virgina Tech 10 points, and then takes the final 5 minutes of the game to score two touchdowns and win. The Patriots are winning games in the first half and then running up the score to rub it in. I fully expect the Celtics to spot each team 25 points and then take just 3 quarters to beat them and go 82-0. I’m sure somehow the Bruins will make the playoffs and win each series by a deciding game overtime goal.
If there is another Boston championship this sports season, I’m giving up Sam Adams and going to imports. And Heaven help us if the Patriots go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. All the bragging and celebrating coming from the Boston nation will sound like gnashing teeth, and the rest of the sports world really will be in Hell.
